Ein wehender Vorhang, eine Pflanze, ein Fenster, ein Blick nach draußen – die Motive in den Bildern von Eleonora Nanu sind einfach und bilden doch eine Bühne für das lebendige Agieren von reiner Farbe im Leinwandgeviert. Ihre Bildausfassung ist abstrakt, auch wenn sie Ihre gemalten Formen aus der Natur oder dem Interieur ihres Alltags holt. Die Gegenstände sind repräsentativ und wiedererkennbar, werden aber zu vibrierenden Farbflächen und zu einem leuchtenden Nebeneinander und Miteinander in den Arbeiten der in Rom geborenen und heute in Dresden lebenden Künstlerin. Eleonora Nanus feines Gespür für Nuancen und Farbbeziehungen erzeugt Bilder, die nicht nur sehenswert, sondern spürbar sind.

Nanus Arbeiten gegenüber stehen die detailreichen Tuschezeichnungen von Elizabeth Charnock. Die in Großbritannien geborene Künstlerin formuliert in ihren Arbeiten auf Papier konzentrierte, urbane und städtebauliche Situationen, die in ihrer Bildsprache kleinteilig und präzise sind. Mit ihren Kleinoden schafft sie es, unsere spielerische Fantasie anzuregen. Ihr pittoresker Minimalismus erlaubt uns auch offene Assoziationen über unsere moderne Zivilisation.

Beide Künstlerinnen ermöglichen uns mit ihnen menschleeren Räumen, Höfen und Naturumgebungen eine konzentrierte Position der unbestimmten Betrachtung unseres Lebensraums einzunehmen, eine Betrachtung, die Platz lässt für eine offene Reflektion unseres Alltags.

A curtain in the wind, a plant, a window, a glimpse of the outdoors – these motifs from Eleonora Nanus paintings are simple, yet still set the stage for the lively activity of pure colour on the canvas.
Her sensitivity in painting is abstract, although she plucks her subjects from nature or the interior of her day-to-day life. The objects are representative and recognizable, but they transform into vibrating expanses of colour and into a vibrant juxtaposition and interaction in the works of the Rome-born artist, who now lives in Dresden.
Eleonora Nanus delicate sense for nuances of and relationships between colours makes for paintings that aren’t just worth seeing, but palpable.

Opposite Nanus works are the carefully detailed ink drawings of Elizabeth Charnock. Within her works, the artist, who was born in Great Britain, formulates urban and town-planning informed situations. As is typical for her distinct visual vocabulary, they are detailed and precise. With these very special works she sparks our playful imagination. Her picturesque minimalism allows us to discover our own associations with modern civilization.

With their empty spaces, courtyards, and natural environments, both artists enable us to assume a concentrated position in the vague observation of our surroundings. An observation that leaves room for an open-minded reflection of our everyday life.
